OTA Sources Sought - Asbestos Related Disease Screening - Libby, MT

Background
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking to enhance the health screening, outreach, and innovation for individuals exposed to asbestos-contaminated vermiculite in Libby, Montana. This initiative aims to modernize and renew the long-term screening and outreach strategy with predictive modeling and data analytics, building upon efforts since 2011.

The program targets current and former residents of Libby and Troy, MT, who have a history of exposure as specified in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Work Details
The program consists of three main components:

1. Screening and Outreach: Conduct annual health screenings for asbestos-related diseases (ARDs) such as pleural plaque, asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. This includes education and awareness campaigns to reach eligible individuals.

2. Technological Innovation: Identify, test, and integrate new diagnostic tools and digital health platforms to improve disease detection accuracy and efficiency.

3. Strategic Research: Analyze demographic data to forecast future screening needs, develop data-driven triggers for program continuity, and ensure local healthcare infrastructure can support impacted residents. Specific tasks include administering standardized surveys, conducting various screenings (spirometry, chest radiographs with B-reader evaluation), implementing low-dose CT screenings for high-risk individuals, maintaining quality assurance protocols, utilizing multi-modal communication for outreach, piloting AI-assisted imaging technologies, collaborating with research entities to understand exposure impacts, and updating screening protocols based on the latest scientific findings.
