OSW - DFAS Columbus Carpet Replacement - MRAS

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), on behalf of the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), is conducting market research to support a contract aimed at modernizing and updating the interior of Building 21 at the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) located in Columbus, Ohio. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of DFAS Building 21 through comprehensive interior renovations, focusing on flooring improvements across multiple levels.

The scope of work for this project includes several key tasks. Firstly, the contractor will be responsible for removing and replacing approximately 62,100 square feet of aging carpet on the third and fourth floors. This task involves not only removing existing glued-down carpeting but also handling associated wall baseboards and adhesives. The selected vendor must ensure that all furniture systems are moved or adjusted as necessary to facilitate carpet installation before returning them to their original locations.

Additionally, another critical component involves renovating the basement area by demolishing and disposing of existing vinyl flooring in both the basement and its hallway. Following this demolition phase, contractors are required to refinish these areas with a high-quality, durable concrete finish that meets specified standards for durability and appearance. This comprehensive renovation effort aims to provide a modernized environment conducive to efficient operations within DFAS Building 21.
