Background
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) requires the operation and maintenance of a Murine Pathogen-Free Mouse Breeding Facility to support its research programs. The facility is essential for breeding and maintaining congenic, transgenic, and knockout mice used by NIAID scientists for various research projects.

Work Details
The contractor is responsible for maintaining barrier-designed facilities for approximately 3400 breeding and production cages. This includes providing experienced staff for mouse breeding, performing laboratory procedures for genetic typing, managing quarantine areas, providing veterinary care, and ensuring compliance with health monitoring standards.

The contractor must also maintain a computerized database for tracking mouse inventory, provide regular electronic reports to NIAID, deliver mice to specified NIH locations, and manage cryopreservation of mouse embryos. Additionally, the contractor must ensure that all facilities meet specific physical requirements and operate under environmentally sustainable practices.

Period of Performance
The contract includes ongoing tasks with specific reporting schedules such as weekly barrier reports, monthly status reports, quarterly guideline sheets, and other periodic testing panels.
