Description

The proposed project addresses the Medical Simulation and Information Sciences (MSIS, JPC-1) priority area of the FY20 Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program (JWMRP) funding opportunity announcement. The Medical Simulation and Information Sciences (MSIS) Research Program focuses on exploring the implications of models and technology for medical education and for the provision, management, and support of health services in the military. This project will provide a physiologic simulation prototype to create a universal medical casualty (UMC) state-based model. The model will provide realistic weapons injury effect determinations along with medical behaviors, detailed casualty reporting, and interactive medical scenarios. These research and development services will be performed at the contractor's facility.

The objective of this project is to turn simulated combatants into fully functional simulated casualties which provide the following functionality to a medical simulation: 1) Realistic impairment due to weapons effects; 2) Realistic casualty triage opportunity; and 3) Each surviving casualty can run as a full medical simulation.
