Description

Offsite Ophthalmology Surgical Support Services with VA Surgeons for the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. See attached Schedule and Performance Work Statement for Specifications.

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing a contract for Offsite Ophthalmology Surgical Support Services for the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. The goal of this contract is to provide necessary surgical support services to eligible beneficiaries, ensuring that they receive high-quality ophthalmology care in a timely manner. This initiative aligns with the VA's mission to provide comprehensive healthcare services to veterans.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide off-site clinical space, including operating rooms and all necessary supporting staff such as surgical technicians, anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), nurses, and administrative personnel. Services will be provided at the contractor’s facility, which must be located no further than 5 miles from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System.

The contractor will perform various ophthalmic surgical procedures referred by VA surgical staff, including but not limited to: cataract removal, glaucoma surgery, eyelid surgeries, and other related procedures as specified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). The contractor is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and supplies are available for each procedure and that all staff meet state licensure requirements. Additionally, the contractor must comply with all relevant VA policies regarding quality, access, patient safety, and performance.

Period of Performance
The contract period of performance is from April 12, 2025, to April 11, 2030.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the contractor's facility located within 5 miles of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC.
