Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is issuing a contract for the replacement of HVAC equipment at the Oahe Dam powerhouse in Pierre, South Dakota. The mission of this project is to ensure the operational efficiency and reliability of HVAC systems critical to the dam's operations.

The goal is to replace outdated equipment and improve overall system performance while maintaining operational continuity during construction.

Work Details
The project involves demolition and replacement of various HVAC equipment, including two Trane Series R_CenTravac rotary screw compressor water source heat pumps (180 tons each), heat pump water piping, motorized valves and valve actuators, water coils, an electric resistant pre-heat coil (150 KW), piping specialties, condensate drain pans, damper actuators, thermostats, and components within various Air Handling Units (AHUs).

Additional tasks include restoring insulation on affected systems and providing new insulation on new equipment, piping, and ductwork as necessary. The contractor will also demolish an existing 8" basket strainer and make minor alterations to heat pump water piping for the installation of a new 8" single basket strainer at a lower elevation in the heat pump room. The contractor must provide a new 8" manual single basket strainer and perform any additional piping alterations required for accommodating new heat pumps, strainers, valves, valve actuators, and piping specialties. It is essential that one heat pump remains operational throughout the construction duration. Coordination with powerhouse personnel and the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) regarding required AHU downtime is mandatory prior to commencing work on AHUs.
