NOTICE TO THE TRADE - DeCA NOTICE 23-76_DEFENSE COMMISSARY INDUSTRY DAY

Background
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is seeking information from industry sources on how best to provide a full line of Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, packaged salads, live potted plants, and ornamental produce to various commissary facilities assigned to specific Areas and Groups within the Continental United States (CONUS) and its Territories. DeCA operates 178 CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico stores, with a produce volume of over $350 million. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss all suggestions, recommendations, questions, and concerns as they relate to the way forward for DeCA’s Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program in order to meet DeCA’s goal of the best quality at the best price.

Work Details
DeCA is seeking information on how to best provide all items typically found in a retail produce department, including floral, to various commissary facilities. All deliveries must be Free on Board Destination (FOB) to the commissaries. Shipments are currently direct store delivery – single order. Each commissary location currently determines the order quantities; they place the order directly with the contractor via a web-based retail order system. Currently, contractor(s) provide every commissary with merchandising support at no additional cost. DeCA expects high quality products at the best price and information on how to best accomplish this.
