Notice of Intent to Sole Source - Maintenance of JEOL IT200 with EDS Scanning Electron Microscope   2

Background
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Business Support Branch intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with JEOL for Preventative Maintenance Services on one Scanning Electron Microscope at the NOAA Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, SC.

The justification for sole sourcing is based on the proprietary nature of the software and equipment that only JEOL can service.

Work Details
The contractor will provide Preventative Maintenance Services on one JEOL Scanning Electron Microscope, specifically servicing the Solid-State Dry EDS Detection Unit.

The required software operating system can only be serviced by JEOL, as they are the only authorized service provider with access to this proprietary software and patents related to the detector. No other authorized service providers exist that can perform these preventative maintenance services.

The contract will be performed from June 3, 2026, to June 12, 2026.
