MilliporeSigma is the sole manufacturer of the Milli-Q IQ 7000 Ultrapure Water System and is the only system that can produce up to 300 L/day of 18.2 MegaOhm*cm water at 0.055 uS/cm that purifies the naturally occurring Uranium in water at, or below, the fementogram/L range and does not release particles greater than 0.22 um from its ion exchange system that is required for analyses that RESL performs. MilliporeSigma is also the sole manufacture of the Jetpore and IQnano resins used in the system to obtain the ultrapure water required for the analyses of radionuclides with half-lives greater than 400 years, the lanthanides, heavy metals, and mercury using ICP-MS quadrapole and ICP-MS with multcollector technology that RESL requires.

The MilliporeSigma equipment that this justification covers is specialized and unique. The specific components in this acquisition only manufactured by MilliporeSigma. Because these components are integrated into a system, only MilliporeSigma equipment and MilliporeSigma replacement parts must be used. Accordingly, only this source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources.
