Description

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Contracts Management Office (CMO), on behalf of the Defense Sciences Office (DSO), intends to award a sole source contract to SRI International, 333 Ravenswood Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, under the authority of 10 U.S.C 3204 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.

Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Contracts Management Office (CMO), on behalf of the Defense Sciences Office (DSO), intends to award a sole source contract to SRI International, 333 Ravenswood Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, under the authority of 10 U.S.C §3204 (c)(1) and “Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.” This is a sole source synopsis for the continuation of SRI International into Phase III of DARPA’s Rational Integration and Design of Energetics (RIDE) program due to their unmatched capability in developing a semi-automated system for explosives and propellant formulations.

Work Details
The RIDE program Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), HR001120S0040, sought to develop capabilities to speed and systematize energetics research, re-inventing the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) energetics development by enabling safer development of energetics, systematizing energetics development, automating components of the energetics development process, and providing new theory and experimental capabilities that reduce the scale of material required to determine key energetics figures of merit. SRI International is uniquely poised to act as a provider of a semi-automated formulation platform under a RIDE Phase III sole source award.
