FAA provides a notice of intent to award a single source contract for the FAA's Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) Surveillance Broadcast Services (SBS) technical and engineering support services.

Background
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a notice of intent to award a single source contract to the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) in Laurel, Maryland. The contract is for the provision of technical and engineering support services to support the deployment, maintenance, and advancement of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) Surveillance Broadcast Services (SBS) into the National Airspace System (NAS). The FAA has determined that JHU/APL is the only qualified source capable of meeting the requirements for this effort utilizing its unique qualifications and toolsets.

Work Details
The technical and engineering services to be acquired include program management support, technical and engineering services to support ADS-B Surveillance Broadcast Services deployment, maintenance, and leveraging unique tool capabilities instrumental in advancing ADS-B into the NAS. Additionally, technical engineering support services will be provided to the FAA’s Advanced Surveillance Enhanced Procedural Separation (ASEPS) and ADS-B Interval Management (IM) programs.

Period of Performance
The total estimated value of this contract, inclusive of all options, is $9.9 million. The period of performance is anticipated to be for four years, consisting of a one-year base year and three one-year options.
