Background
The contract is issued by the agency responsible for the Norfolk Harbor Federal Navigation Project, with the mission to maintain navigable waterways. The goal of this contract is to perform maintenance dredging in specific segments of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River to ensure that these waterways are kept at their required depths for safe navigation.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for maintenance dredging using mechanical dredging methods in designated areas of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River. The dredging will achieve depths of -41 feet and -36 feet MLLW, with an allowable overdepth of one foot included in the pay prism. Approximately 96,200 cubic yards of dredged material is expected to be generated, which must be transported by barge or scow to the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA). Responsibilities include:

- Dredging to specified depths
- Transporting dredged material to CIDMMA
- Discharging material via direct pump-out into designated placement sites
- Operating and maintaining spillways at CIDMMA
- Ensuring compliance with State water quality requirements for effluent water
- Coordinating with Port of Hampton Roads maritime users to minimize impacts on vessel traffic and adjacent utilities.
