Background
The Lakeshore Road project is aimed at improving safety for motorists and pedestrians using Lakeshore Road and enhancing long-term public access to recreation areas located within Elephant Butte State Park and Elephant Butte Reservoir. The project involves improving drainageways at four separate locations, constructing new box culverts and bridges to prevent significant roadway damage and closures during heavy rainfall, and providing safe and reliable access for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians traveling to Elephant Butte Reservoir. The work is occurring in cultural and natural resource sensitive areas with numerous environmental constraints that will affect the construction schedule and type of operations.

Work Details
The proposed project includes replacing the existing culverts at four separate locations along Lakeshore Road with new culverts or bridges. The specific details of the work include replacing culverts with concrete box culverts at different locations, resurfacing road segments, reconstructing road segments, constructing a new bridge, and various principal work items such as roadway excavation, structure excavation, asphalt concrete pavement, structural concrete, reinforcing steel, epoxy coated steel, drill shafts, and LPSM payment for Construct and Maintain Diversion. The anticipated advertisement date for the project is early April 2023 with construction anticipated from June 2023 to October 2024.

The period of performance for the contract is from June 2023 to October 2024.

The construction projects will be performed at Lakeshore Road in Elephant Butte State Park and Elephant Butte Reservoir.
