NM BITTER LAKE NWR - Repair of 4691 Well

Background
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is issuing this contract for the repair and modification of an existing vertical turbine well at the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico. This project is necessitated by damage caused during a significant flood event in August 2022, which resulted in extensive flooding along the Pecos River.

The goal of the contract is to restore functionality to the well that was compromised due to floodwaters affecting its electrical panel, pump, and associated infrastructure.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items required to perform the repair and modification of Well #4691. Specific tasks include:
1. Repairing and modifying the existing submersible well by replacing the vertical turbine pump assembly including a new discharge head assembly, shaft, and pump bowl assembly.
2. Installing a new motor and electrical panel along with a variable frequency drive (VFD).
3. Conducting a commissioning performance/acceptance test to confirm flow rates between 200 to 800 gallons per minute (GPM) are achieved as per requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract period of performance is from August 11, 2025, to November 19, 2025.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge located in Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico.
