NJ-Edwin Forsythe NWR-Demolition Services

Background
The contract is issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, located in Brick Township, New Jersey.

The mission of the FWS is to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The goal of this contract is to safely demolish a vacant house and shed on federal land, ensuring that the site is left clean and graded.

Work Details
The contractor is responsible for the complete demolition of an approximately 2,347 sq. ft. single-story house and an approximately 332 sq. ft. shed. The scope of work includes:
1. Structural Demolition:
- House: Demolition and removal of the house including its contents, foundation, and associated walkways. The house has been heavily vandalized and contains appliances, furniture, and trash.
- Shed: Demolition and removal of the shed including any associated foundation; it contains some materials but is mostly empty.
- Vegetation: Cutting of trees, shrubs, limbs, and other vegetation 6 inches in diameter or less to facilitate demolition is permitted but not required.

2. Debris and Waste Removal:
- Legal disposal of all demolition debris including concrete, wood, metal, and general trash generated from the structures.
- Clear miscellaneous trash scattered across the project yard.

3. Site Grading and Leveling:
- Remove subsurface footings to a minimum depth of 3 feet below final grade.
- Grade the site to a smooth surface free of holes or protrusions.
- Import clean fill dirt to level the land.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is from August 31, 2026 to January 31, 2027.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at 530 Havens Cove Road, Brick Township, New Jersey 08723.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must meet several requirements including being a Small Business Set Aside - Total (SBA), possessing necessary contractor licenses for demolition work, providing bid/payment/performance bonds as required by federal regulations, complying with safety qualifications during demolition activities.
