The site is the oldest and only remaining Black settlement west of the Mississippi River.

The goal of this contract is to enhance the visitor experience at the AME Church within the site by installing an accessible audio-visual system that aligns with the site's historical context and accessibility standards.

Work Details
The contract involves the design and installation of a multiple-channel soundscape system at the AME Church located at 201 3rd Street, Nicodemus, KS 67625. The system will allow for on-demand playback of four to six different audio recordings provided by the government. Key specifications include:
- Control-Push Button Panel: Wall-mounted panel made of metal and plastic, finished to match surrounding materials, housing media player, amplifier, surge protection, and activation buttons.
- Speakers: Up to four inconspicuous speakers that blend into the church's interior, ensuring optimal immersive sound quality without altering structural integrity.
- Installation must comply with the Architectural Barrier Act (ABA), American Disability Act (ADA), and International Building Codes (IBC).
- All wiring must connect to existing electrical supply using surface-mounted conduit that matches surrounding materials.
- The contractor must ensure no damage occurs to existing historical materials or structures during installation.

Period of Performance
Work shall be completed within 190 calendar days of award.
