Description

NHGRI Fellowship Training
Background
As the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) expands its efforts to establish a diverse genomics workforce, there is an increasing need to attract post-baccalaureate scientists in the areas of scientific administration, policy, education and communications. NHGRI at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the largest organization in the world dedicated to genomics research. NHGRI is similarly dedicated to advancing human genetics and genomics through collaborations with scientific and medical communities, including funding high-impact research and helping to support and shape the U.S. human genetics and genomics research workforce. The NHGRI currently has two fellowship programs, which include Genetic Policy and Education Fellowship. NHGRI is adding two new fellowship programs: the Genetics and Public Service Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship and a Scientific Communications Fellowship. This requirement will encompass the four different types of fellowships to enable NHGRI to expand the pool of trained program analysts, policy analysts, education specialists, and communication specialists who can support the field of genetics and genomics within the NHGRI and more broadly at the NIH.

Work Details
