Description

This is amendment 0001 to solicitation N6449826Q5003. This amendment updates language in the Statement of Work (SOW), Sections 1.2 and 3.5.

Background
The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is part of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD), a Department of Defense entity responsible for research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, and fleet support for the Navy's vessels. The NFPC specializes in the design, manufacture, and repair of propellers for the U.S. Navy. This contract is for non-personal services related to the removal of hazardous dry silica sand from two vaults at NFPC to facilitate repurposing of these vaults.

Work Details
The contractor is required to remove approximately 252 tons of dry silica bulk sand from two vaults measuring approximately 240 inches in length, 120 inches in width, and 120 inches in height. Each vault contains about 126 tons of sand which is considered hazardous material. The preferred method for removal is using a vacuum truck to minimize airborne silica particles; however, any method that fits through the vault doorway (4 ft wide by 7 ft tall) is acceptable.

The contractor must adhere to OSHA standards regarding respirable crystalline silica during the removal process. Additionally, the contractor must ensure employee safety by providing appropriate personal protective equipment and tools, as well as conducting work under established safety protocols. The contractor will also be responsible for all necessary equipment and lighting for the work area.

Place of Performance
The work will be conducted at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center located in Philadelphia, PA.
