Background
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), specifically the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), is initiating a project aimed at synthesizing compounds to identify molecules that bind to the KIAA0203 protein. This effort is part of a broader initiative to potentially develop a new drug for Alzheimer's disease.

The project follows a previous contract for synthesis services that concluded in July 2024 and will be structured as a base contract with four option years.

Work Details
The contract involves medicinal chemistry support focused on the synthesis of up to 100 compounds in quantities ranging from 2-10 mg under non-Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions.

The primary objective is to identify ligands that bind to the KIAA0203 protein, which has been validated through kinetic studies. This synthesis service will support the advancement of preclinical candidate compounds for further development.

Period of Performance
The contract will be executed over a base period plus four option years, following the conclusion of the previous contract.
