Nationwide Rock Salt and Ice Melt Supply for Institutions RFI

Background
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Facilities Management Branch, is responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds at approximately 122 institutions nationwide. They utilize inmate work programming, journeyman level tradesmen, and contractors to modernize and modify facilities to meet evolving mission requirements.

This Request for Information (RFI) aims to assess vendor capabilities in supplying rock salt and ice melt for winter maintenance operations at these institutions.

Work Details
The RFI seeks information on the supply of rock salt and ice melt products for winter road and sidewalk safety maintenance. Vendors are requested to provide detailed information regarding their capabilities, including:
1. Types of ice melt available for distribution.
2. Modes of delivery offered (e.g., bags, pallets, tri-axle loads, buckets).
3. Unit packaging configuration and trucking options.
4. Maximum shipping requirements and limitations on distance before product cools.
5. Pricing structure (fixed pricing, index-based pricing, regional pricing, transportation charges, fuel surcharges).
6. Safety Data Sheets availability.
7. Packaging or delivery features relevant to institutional security.

Nationwide delivery to various Bureau of Prisons institutions across the United States.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must provide detailed company information including corporate structure, business address, primary points of contact, UEI and CAGE code information, years in business, relevant experience with correctional facilities or government agencies, financial capacity for nationwide fulfillment, distribution capabilities, and whether they are a manufacturer or distributor of rock salt or ice melt.
