Background
The National Weather Service (NWS) operates Upper Air Observations Stations throughout the United States and various territories, which perform daily Upper Air Soundings by launching balloons carrying radiosondes. The system consists of an Inflation Building where the balloons are prepared and a large tracking dish antenna inside a protective dome (radome) to receive the radiosonde data. The NWS is seeking to execute the Radiosonde Frequency Migration Project (RFMP) Upper Air Inflation Buildings (UAIB) Dome Removal and Roof Remediation to remove radomes at selected sites without compromising UAIB integrity.

Work Details
The contract includes two main task areas: Task Area 1 - Radome Removal Planning, which involves preparing radome removal plans and cost estimates, and Task Area 2 - Execute Radome Removal Process, which includes executing radome removal and roof refurbishment at each site, along with providing a radome (post) removal report. The contract also involves a Contract Kickoff Conference, change of scope notification, and preparation of various plans such as Radome Removal Plan, Roof Repair/Refurbishment Design Plan, Hazardous Materials Removal/Mitigation Plan, Accident Prevention Plan, and Radome (Post) Removal Report.

Period of Performance
The ordering period for the contract is from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2028 (total of 5 years).

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed at various Upper Air Observations Stations throughout the United States and its territories.
