Background
The solicitation is for the NASA Academic Mission Services 2 (NAMS-2) contract, which aims to support NASA R&D in Air Traffic Management (ATM) and related areas. The contract will primarily support NASA researchers and engineers performing R&D in areas such as aeronautical engineering, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, operations research, software engineering, system engineering, electrical engineering, machine learning, and discrete and continuous control.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide support for research, development, integration, testing, demonstration, and deployment through activities spanning initial concept development (technology readiness level (TRL) - 1) and evaluation through limited simulations and testing through in-situ field tests at operational ATM facilities (TRL-7) or in operational field environments. The work environment may include field sites such as air transportation-related facilities or other NASA or non-NASA Government facilities. The specific activities include foundational UAM airspace research, future workforce training, expert instruction, safety and mission assurance for ATM research projects, advanced technological systems support, nanoelectronics and devices projects support, advanced software for digital twin systems development, quantum computing technology exploration, secure airspace architectures development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data mining development, and support for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) National Campaign.
