DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

The work includes removal of (4) facilities from the building A6 steam supply system. The (4) buildings being taken off of steam service (23A, 43, 44, and 49) shall have their steam to heating hotwater exchangers removed and natural gas boilers provided in their place. Building B23A shall also have its domestic hot water heaters replaced.

Work includes the trenching and backfilling for the installation of gas piping to each of four buildings, restoration of paving due to gas piping installation, The contractor shall be responsible for connecting to the utility meter and provide gas distribution to the installed boilers.

Background
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) is issuing this solicitation for the design-bid-build project to decentralize steam services at Naval Health Care New England (NHCNE) in Newport, Rhode Island. The goal of this contract is to replace the existing steam heating system with natural gas-fired boilers in buildings 23A, 43, 44, and 49.

This project is part of a larger initiative to improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on steam systems across multiple facilities in the North Area of Responsibility (AOR), which includes several states in the northeastern United States.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
