MPF Bridge Maintenance

Background
The project involves the maintenance of the Bailey Bridge, a 140’ steel truss bridge that crosses over Prairie Creek, open to the public for hiking, bicycling, and equestrian use. Erosion at the west abutment of the bridge has progressed to a point where it has become necessary to add stone rip-rap to prevent further erosion of the stream bank.

Work Details
The project includes excavation of riprap and bank materials, furnishing and installing geotextile material, furnishing and installing of Class 3 riprap, and installing soil and erosion control measures. The technical requirements/tasks include mobilization, soil erosion and pollution control, furnishing and placing non-woven geotextile under riprap, partial removal and replacement of existing riprap around the eroded abutment area, excavation, furnishing and placing and compacting of approximately 50 CY additional class 3 riprap along the backwall/wingwall the designated stream bank area.
Site cleanup for the project is considered incidental to all other pay items.
