Construction of a backup power generation plant, comprised of an array of three diesel powered electrical generators providing approx. 6MW of capacity, 2MW load bank, 1200-amp switchgear, 72,000-gal capacity fuel storage tanks for a 14-day supply of fuel, and approx. 12,000 linear feet of underground duct bank with 500 kcmil power distribution conductors.
Construction of the generators involves: required site prep for the generator enclosures; tier-4 emissions control equipment; construction of a refueling lane to service fuel storage tanks; and a fuel polishing unit. Construction of the underground duct bank involves trenching and direct-burying of PVC conduit; installation of electrical lines and manholes; installation of duct bank conduit and conductors affixed underneath an existing vehicle bridge; and tie-in to existing electrical infrastructure on the installation, including break-before-make interconnection to PG&E utility grid.
