Mortuary Service - FMC Lexington, KY   4

Background
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is issuing this solicitation for the provision of mortuary services for the Adult in Custody (AIC) population at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) located in Lexington, Kentucky.

The goal of this contract is to ensure that all necessary mortuary services are provided in compliance with state regulations and the specifications outlined in the Statement of Work.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive mortuary services, which may include transportation, embalming, body preparation, clothing, filing of certificates and permits, casket provision, shipping, cremation, and burial services for deceased AICs.

Services must be available 24/7 and include:
- Pickup of deceased bodies within four hours of notification from FMC staff.
- Compliance with all state and interstate laws regarding embalming and burial.
- Provision of all necessary supplies and equipment for the services.
- Preparation of bodies to ensure lifelike appearance including grooming and dressing in appropriate clothing.
- Provision of standard-sized caskets meeting minimum industry standards or oversized caskets if required without additional cost.
- Arranging transportation for local burial or shipment as directed by FMC staff.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective from the date of award through a base period of 12 months with options to extend for up to 60 months total.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the contractor's funeral home located in Kentucky.
