Mobile Device Services and Support

The USPTO requires continuation of existing equipment, phone numbers, maintenance and technical support of current mobile devices (smartphones and tablets, etc.), peripherals and accessories in the existing inventory. USPTO awarded a Firm Fixed Price, single-award Order via GSA's Best-in-Class Wireless Mobility Solutions (SIN 517312) MAS Contract #47QTCA20D00B5 to Cellco Partnership dba Verizon Wireless IAW Limited Sources Justification. Due to the continuing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the maximum telework position of the agency, the recall of 1,000+ devices from employees who may or may not be residing and working within the DC Metro area presents an unacceptable risk. The risk of device loss, delay, and lack of communication device availability in a maximum telework environment would cripple the production ability of the agency. It is necessary to mitigate and avoid potential disruption of business operations for USPTO Executives and Programs. USPTO requires sustainment of the existing telephone numbers and associated data plans with the subscriber identification module (SIM) cards. The current contractor SIM card is used to identify and authenticate subscribers on all mobile devices (such as mobile phones and tablets). Competing and/or changing contractors would require a disruption in services to change each SIM card in each individual mobile device.
