Background
The solicitation is for the mitigation of large scale obsolescence of MIL-PRF-19500 certified components. The contract is issued by the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) with the mission to deliver microelectronics solutions to meet the needs of the Department of Defense. Work Details
The tasks to be completed under this contract include: mitigating obsolescence of MIL-PRF-19500 certified devices, providing a report detailing identifying the obsolescence issue or risk and what components are impacted and its severity, and providing a program summary.
The contractor is required to mitigate current obsolescence issues or mitigate risk to future obsolescence of one or more MIL-PRF-19500 qualified components. This could include purchasing needed equipment upgrades, facility upgrades, investment of labor, bringing raw material supplier operations in-house, qualification of a second facility, and qualification of a second qualified manufacturer for certain components.
