Background
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is issuing the Low-Cost Interceptor (LCI) solicitation to invite industry partners to propose innovative approaches for developing modular interceptor designs aimed at countering ballistic and hypersonic threats.

The goal is to demonstrate very low-cost interceptors, priced under $750K each, utilizing readily available components and technologies within a compressed timeline. This solicitation is part of MDA's Nimble Options for Buying Layered Effects (NOBLE) initiative.

Work Details
The contract involves a concept demonstration effort focusing on the rapid development and testing of low-cost interceptors. Key tasks include:
1. **Phase I (6 months)** - Detailed Design and Analysis: This phase requires detailed design and engagement analysis of a candidate LCI concept, including all major subsystems such as boosters, controls, flight computers, communications, fire control interface, terminal seeker, and warhead. The design must be compatible with legacy missile defense systems.

2. **Phase II (12 months)** - Prototyping and Testing: This phase includes prototyping, ground testing, and flight tests of the complete interceptor. Vendors must deliver 4 to 10 LCI missiles for intercept tests by MDA at the end of this phase.

3. The proposed concepts should utilize open system architecture standards and focus on integrating commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) or government off-the-shelf (GOTS) components to maximize cost efficiency while meeting performance goals against various missile threats.

Place of Performance
The work will primarily be performed at the Missile Defense Agency located at 5224 Martin Road, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898.
