Description

The Internal Revenue Service, Office of Chief Counsel General Legal Services is a defendant in EEOC litigation. The Agency, in its defense, will need a medical expert witness (with an M.D. degree) with expertise in the particular medical condition at issue (i.e., asserted lifetime asthma) and with experience having testified in legal proceedings regarding that condition and possible work/life restrictions.

Background
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), specifically the Office of Chief Counsel General Legal Services, is currently involved in litigation with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The agency requires a medical expert witness with an M.D. degree who specializes in asthma and has experience testifying in legal contexts regarding this condition and its potential impact on work and life restrictions.

The goal of this contract is to acquire expert evidence necessary for the IRS's defense in the EEOC litigation.

Work Details
The tasks to be completed under this contract include:
1) Reviewing documents related to the EEOC litigation;
2) Discussing the EEOC litigation with Agency counsel;
3) Providing an expert written opinion about the case for use by Agency counsel;
4) Testifying at an EEOC hearing, including preparation time spent with Agency counsel for such testimony.

The IRS is conducting a market survey to assess the availability and technical capabilities of qualified businesses, particularly small and traditionally underserved businesses.
