Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is sponsoring a Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of an anticipated Exploration Program Announcement (PA) for the Mathematics of Boosting Agentic Communication (MATHBAC) program. The event aims to introduce the research community, including industry and academia, to the MATHBAC program vision and goals, explain the mechanics of a DARPA program, and encourage teaming arrangements among organizations with relevant expertise.

Work Details
The MATHBAC program aims to enable the next generation of Agentic Artificial Intelligence Platforms that systematically evolve to transform scientific discovery for defense. It will develop the science of AI communication by leveraging mathematics, systems, and information theory to govern how AI agents collaborate and share information. The program will focus on disentangling complex data streams to extract generalizable principles, allowing agentic platforms not only to solve complex problems but also to understand their own functioning and solutions.

DARPA encourages teaming before proposal submission and offers two options for participants: an Attendee List for sharing contact information among attendees and a Proposer Profile List where interested parties can submit a one-page profile detailing their technical competencies related to agentic AI, small science models, and mathematics/information/systems/data science theory.

Period of Performance
The Proposers Day will take place on April 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
