Background
The Mars Sample Return (MSR) Campaign aims to collect and send sample tubes of Martian rocks, regolith, and atmosphere to Earth for detailed analysis. The campaign includes Mars 2020 Rover, Sample Retrieval Lander (SRL), and Earth Return Orbiter (ERO). The Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) will be a payload aboard and launched from the Mars Lander Vehicle (MLV). The MAV will receive power and communications through the MLV during Earth launch, cruise, Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) environments, and surface operations. The Contractor will be responsible for MAV flight system level design, development, test, and evaluation (DDT&E) responsibilities in delivering the MAV to SRL for integration, launch, and flight operations.

Work Details
The Contractor will be responsible for DDT&E of multiple MAV units including Engineering Model (EM), Flight Test (FT), Assembly, Test & Launch Operations (ATLO), Flight Model (FM), and FM spare hardware. The Contractor will also procure and produce Ground Support Equipment (GSE), including Mechanical (MGSE) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). The Contractor will perform A&I of the MAV RCS subsystem for development, qualification, and flight programs. Additionally, the Contractor shall plan, procure, manage transportation services for all integrated MAV vehicles and major subassemblies.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is from Contract Effective Date through July 31, 2028.

Place of Performance
The Contractor shall perform the work under this contract at the contractor’s facility, Marshall Space Flight Center, Kennedy Space Center, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Wallops Flight Facility, and at such other locations as may be approved in writing by the Contracting Officer.
