Maintenance Service for Portable Fire Extinguishers - BPA

Background
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is a U.S. Government manufacturing plant that operates twenty-four hours a day, five days a week, on a three-shift schedule.
BEP is part of the United States Department of the Treasury and is responsible for designing, engraving, and manufacturing U.S. currency and other security products.
This contract aims to ensure that all portable fire extinguishers located at BEP are maintained and serviced to be readily available and function reliably in accordance with NFPA-10 standards and other applicable regulations.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide non-personal services for maintenance of portable fire extinguishers located throughout the main and annex buildings of BEP. Services include:
1. Inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and replacement of approximately 1,000 portable fire extinguishers in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations.
2. Adherence to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements for placement, use, maintenance, and testing of portable fire extinguishers as overseen by OSHA.
3. Monthly visual inspections by BEP personnel.
4. Annual maintenance checks to ensure compliance with safety standards.
5. Hydrostatic testing for stored pressure dry chemical extinguishers every 12 years, with specific maintenance procedures every 6 years as required.
