Maintenance Service for Portable Fire Extinguishers

Background
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is a U.S. Government manufacturing plant that operates twenty-four hours a day, five days a week, on a three-shift schedule. It is part of the United States Department of the Treasury, responsible for designing, engraving, and manufacturing U.S. currency and other security products.

This contract aims to ensure that all portable fire extinguishers located at the BEP are maintained and serviced to be readily available and function reliably according to applicable regulations.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide non-personal services including all personnel, equipment, supplies, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary for the maintenance service of approximately 1,000 portable fire extinguishers located throughout the BEP facility in Washington D.C.

The services will include:
- Inspection: Monthly visual inspections of all portable fire extinguishers.
- Maintenance: Annual maintenance checks as per NFPA-10 standards.
- Testing: Hydrostatic testing for stored pressure dry chemical extinguishers every 12 years and applicable maintenance procedures every 6 years.
- Repair: Addressing any issues found during inspections or maintenance.
- Replacement: Replacing extinguishers that are deemed unserviceable or expired based on regulatory standards.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of one year with options to extend for additional years as specified in the solicitation.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing facility located at 301 14th Street SW, Washington D.C.
