Background
The Mahoning Buildings and Grounds contract is issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) with the objective of maintaining satisfactory grounds conditions for both Government-use and public-use areas.

The mission is to ensure a safe and attractive environment for USACE staff and the public through regular maintenance services.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform regular, recurring, and periodic grounds maintenance services which include mowing, trimming, pruning, mulching, weeding, leaf removal, tree removal, policing, and pesticide application.

Specific tasks include:
1. Mowing operations must be conducted to protect grass, sod, equipment, trees, and shrubs while ensuring safety.
2. Prior to mowing, areas must be policed for trash and debris.
3. Mowing must maintain a uniform grass height with two types of cuts defined: Type I (3 inches cut height) performed 3-4 times per month from mid-April to mid-October; Type II (5 inches cut height) performed monthly from May to October.
4. Trimming must be completed within 24 hours after mowing to ensure uniformity around structures without damaging vegetation.
5. Daily safety inspections must be documented by the Contractor Quality Control Inspector and Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
6. The contractor is responsible for maintaining a drug-free workplace and ensuring all employees are qualified for their tasks.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a specified period that includes regular maintenance activities throughout the growing season from mid-April through mid-October with specific frequencies outlined for various tasks.

Place of Performance
The work will take place at various locations managed by USACE including public-use areas such as parks and recreation sites adjacent to lakes.
