Description

PROPOSERS DAY:
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Strategic Technology Office (STO) will host a Proposers Day in support of DARPA-PS-25-07, the Lunar Assay via Small Satellite Orbiter (LASSO) program on May 13th, 2025, at the Executive Conference Center (ECC) Chesapeake I & II, 4075 Wilson Blvd, Suite 300, Arlington, VA from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (ET). For those who cannot attend in person, a webinar will provide a live stream of the events at the conference center.
The purpose of this conference is to provide information on the LASSO program, promote additional discussion on this topic, address questions from potential proposers, and provide a forum for teaming opportunities. The Proposers Day will include overview presentations by DARPA personnel, other government partners and a Question & Answer (Q&A) session following the presentations. Unclassified questions and answers will be posted to SAM.gov at the conclusion of the event. The Proposers Day will be held at the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) level.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION:
The LASSO program aims to develop technologies to support significantly increasing the United States' (US) ability to conduct operations in support of space situational awareness by developing both autonomous satellite navigation in stressing orbital conditions and increasing satellite maneuverability through continuous dynamic repositioning based on changing conditions, with the added benefit of creating a proven reserve model for resources relevant to In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) on Earth's Moon.
LASSO supposes that high resolution measurements of resources across the entire lunar surface is the most compelling commercial application to drive optimized performance in propulsion system and Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) design. The program seeks performers to design, test, build, and deliver a spacecraft capable of determining all areas on the Moon that contain greater than 5% water concentration with a resolution of no larger than four-square kilometers. LASSO is focused on developing technologies for use in lunar orbit and does not intend to use any equipment on the lunar surface.
Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Strategic Technology Office (STO) is hosting a Proposers Day for the Lunar Assay via Small Satellite Orbiter (LASSO) program. The event aims to provide information on the LASSO program, promote discussion, address questions from potential proposers, and facilitate teaming opportunities. This initiative supports the U.S. mission to enhance space situational awareness and resource utilization on the Moon.

Work Details
The LASSO program focuses on developing technologies that enhance the U.S.'s capability to conduct operations in space situational awareness. Key objectives include:

1. Developing autonomous satellite navigation for challenging orbital conditions.
2. Increasing satellite maneuverability through continuous dynamic repositioning based on changing conditions.
3. Creating a proven reserve model for resources relevant to In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) on the Moon.

The program seeks performers to design, test, build, and deliver a spacecraft capable of identifying areas on the Moon with over 5% water concentration at a resolution of no larger than four square kilometers. The focus is on technologies for lunar orbit; no equipment will be deployed on the lunar surface.

Period of Performance
The Proposers Day will occur on May 13, 2025, with registration deadlines set for May 5, 2025.

Place of Performance
The event will take place at the Executive Conference Center Chesapeake I & II, 4075 Wilson Blvd, Suite 300, Arlington, VA.
