This contract is specifically for NSWCPD Code 42, which focuses on Propulsion Systems. Work Details
The contractor shall provide services to design and fabricate six (6) storage/shipping containers for LCS-2 variant LM2500 removal rails. The scope includes updating professional drawings for the prototype container. Specific requirements include:
1. The container must fit existing removal rails (dimensions: 25' x 4.5' x 4').
2. It should be movable with a fork truck; risers must be increased from 3" to 4" tall.
3. The design must allow stacking of at least four crates, supporting a load of three containers plus 7,500 lbs of rails (2,500 lbs per container).
4. A resealable, waterproof lid with a locking mechanism/latch is required; current lid latches need to be larger and stronger.
5. The exterior must be water-resistant/corrosion-resistant including hardware.
6. Container body-mounted fixtures should allow lifting via crane.
7. Reinforcing horizontal crossbars and welding on the lid are necessary to decrease deflection.
8. Vertical supports need reinforcement through additional welding for stability.
9. Four sets of handles should be added to the lid for easier lifting/removal.
10. A label plate for ship set identification and a pocket for documents must be included.

Period of Performance
The contract will span from the award date until all six containers are delivered, with specific milestones including updates on work progress provided monthly.

Place of Performance
