Laundry Dryer Vent Cleaning Services

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking to contract for annual and semi-annual laundry dryer vent cleaning services at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison, WI. The goal of this contract is to reduce fire hazards caused by lint accumulation and to ensure optimal dryer performance, thereby reducing energy costs. This service contract consists of a base year plus four option years.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all necessary labor, materials, tools, travel, management, and equipment for vent cleaning services for Laundry Plant Dryers 1 through 4. The scope includes:
- Clearing 17 linear feet of exhaust duct work and 21 linear feet of supply duct work for Dryers #1 and #2.
- Clearing 25 linear feet (10’ horizontal and 15’ vertical) duct work for Dryers #3 and #4.
- Cleaning the lint trap and black lint sock.
- Cleaning the mushroom fan on the roof.
- Cleaning 7-feet diameter lint screen units on the roof.
- Cleaning 3 feet of ductwork on the bottom of the screen housing.
- Cleaning 11 feet of ductwork on the exhaust side from roof to screen housing.
- Replacing missing or damaged covers/louvers as needed (4-flap louver preferred).
- Disposing of all collected debris.
- Providing before and after pictures at no additional cost to the government.

The contractor must perform these tasks twice a year: once in Spring (March-May) and once in Fall (August-October). All work must comply with standards set by NADCA, EPA, OSHA, and local regulations.

Period of Performance
Base year plus four option years; specific schedule details will be determined based on hospital operational needs.
