Lab Staffing for the Red Lake and Cass Lake Indian Health Service

Background
The Indian Health Service (IHS) is issuing this contract to provide laboratory staffing services for the Red Lake and Cass Lake IHS Service Units. The mission of IHS is to provide comprehensive healthcare services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. This contract aims to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services by maintaining a fully staffed laboratory, which is essential due to the limited number of qualified applicants for current vacancies.

Work Details
The contractor will provide up to six (6) Medical Technologists (MT) and/or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) to cover day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as required. Services include:
- Laboratory specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting for eligible patients.
- Collection of specimens from patients and preparation for routine testing or referral.
- Performing routine and specialized laboratory tests in microbiology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology.
- Conducting quality control procedures on equipment and reagents.
- Performing preventative maintenance on instruments and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Following all laboratory procedures and safety policies.
- Participating in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
- Completing laboratory reports and maintaining supplies.
- Ensuring compliance with infection control practices according to accreditation standards.

Period of Performance
The contract will consist of a base year plus four (4) option years.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the Red Lake Service Unit located at 24760 Hospital Drive, Red Lake, MN 56673, and the Cass Lake Service Unit located at 425 7th Street NW, Cass Lake, MN 56633.
