Background
The JW Toumey Nursery, located in Watersmeet, MI, is seeking contractors for the transportation of tree seedlings. The goal of this contract is to facilitate the pick-up, transportation, and delivery of tree seedlings from the nursery to various cooler sites across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This initiative supports reforestation efforts and the management of national forests in these states.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Pick-up of tree seedlings from JW Toumey Nursery.

2. Transportation of seedlings to various designated cooler sites throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

3. Ensure that refrigerated trailers maintain internal temperatures between 33 to 37 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the transportation process.

4. Provide trailers that are a full 53’ long and capable of hauling up to 800,000 seedlings per load in appropriate bags or boxes.

5. Maintain flexibility in scheduling due to potential weather variations affecting seedling lifting operations and delivery timelines.

6. Supply information about carriers used for transportation three days prior to arrival at the nursery.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to take place during April to May 2025, with specific truckloads beginning around mid-April and continuing as needed based on seedling availability and weather conditions.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at JW Toumey Nursery in Watersmeet, MI and various National Forest locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
