JUSTIFICATION FOR OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION (JOFOC) NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY
MANAGEMENT AND OPERATING CONTRACT NO. DE-AC52-07NA27344

Background
The U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) plans to noncompetitively extend the management and operating contract with Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This extension is crucial to maintain LLNL's operations in support of national security and scientific research missions.

Work Details
LLNS is tasked with managing, operating, protecting, sustaining, and enhancing LLNL's capabilities as a multi-program laboratory. The work includes supporting nuclear weapons science and technology, earth and environmental science, nuclear physics, materials science, bioscience, biotechnology, high-performance computing, and more.

LLNL will continue its primary mission of strengthening U.S. security through world-class science and technology development. Key projects include the W80-4 life extension program and the W87-1 modification program for nuclear warheads. LLNL also operates unique facilities like the El Capitan supercomputer and the National Ignition Facility to support these missions.

Period of Performance
The contract extension covers a period of 5 years from September 30, 2026, to September 30, 2031, with an additional one-year option period extending through September 30, 2032, plus up to six months under options to extend services.
