Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has issued a solicitation for the one-time repair of a -140C Ultra-Low Laboratory Freezer at the VISN 17 Center of Excellence, Biomarkers and Genetics Core, located in Waco, Texas. The freezers are critical equipment used by researchers and are required for most funded research programs at this location.

Work Details
The scope of work includes obtaining a warrantied compressor from the manufacturer, picking up the non-working unit from the customer site, rebuilding the refrigeration system at a service facility, including replacement of the scroll compressor and filter dryer, cleaning old lines, vacuum pull on the system, replacement of ultra-low temperature coolant, and complete system testing to ensure functioning is in line with strict laboratory requirements. The contractor is required to provide at least 24 hours’ notice prior to performing servicing of the instrument and must report to the Center of Excellence before proceeding to the work location.
