Correct Fire (Life) Safety Issues (Construction)   2

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs, through Network Contracting Office 6, is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the project titled 'Correct Fire (Life) Safety Issues (Construction)' at the Hampton VA Medical Center.

The goal of this contract is to address and rectify fire and life safety issues within various buildings on and off the campus, ensuring compliance with safety standards. This project is part of the agency's mission to provide a safe environment for veterans and staff.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary tools, labor, materials, equipment, supervision, professional services, and expertise required to perform general construction tasks. Specific work includes:
- General construction and alterations
- Site work and select demolition
- Hauling and disposal of materials
- Electrical work
- Relocation of existing utilities
- Installation of new handrails, guard rails, fire egress stairs, exterior stair coverings, sidewalks, doors, fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and wall modifications.

The contractor is responsible for managing all aspects of the project including permitting, construction management, scheduling, inspection and testing.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence on October 19, 2026, and conclude on October 19, 2027.

Place of Performance
All construction tasks will be performed at the Hampton VA Medical Center located at 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667.

Bidder Requirements
This solicitation is a 100% Total Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. Contractors must be verified in the Small Business Administration’s VetCert database to be eligible for award. Additionally, contractors are required to furnish performance and payment bonds.
