Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this solicitation for kitchen hood maintenance and grease trap cleaning services at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. The mission of the VA is to provide high-quality healthcare to veterans, and this contract aims to ensure the proper maintenance of kitchen equipment, which is vital for food safety and operational efficiency in their Nutrition and Food Service (NFS) and Veteran Canteen Services (VCS) kitchens.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all parts, labor, materials, supervision, special services, and equipment necessary for the maintenance and cleaning of grease traps, kitchen hoods, ductwork, and exhaust systems. Specific tasks include:

1. **Inspection and Cleaning of Kitchen Hoods:** Conduct inspections and cleanings per NFPA 96 standards. This includes degreasing exhaust hoods, ductwork, stainless-steel filters, and roof fans. The contractor must ensure that all equipment is rendered inoperable before work begins and must communicate with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) regarding Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

2. **Maintenance of Kitchen Hood Fans:** Inspect exhaust fans for wear, replace belts as needed, grease bearings, and maintain components according to manufacturer recommendations.

3. **Inspection and Cleaning of Grease Traps:** Remove accumulated fats, oils, greases (FOG), wash down interiors including baffles and screens. Clean surrounding areas from incidental spills.

4. **Deliverables:** Provide a service plan detailing products/services offered; submit service reports documenting mechanical or structural repairs needed; attach weatherproof certificates showing cleaning dates and personnel involved.

5. **Frequency of Services:** Quarterly cleanings for certain equipment; bi-monthly for others as specified in the contract.

Period of Performance
The contract will be executed over a base year plus four option years: Base Year from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026; Option Year 1 from February 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027; Option Year 2 from February 1, 2027 to January 31, 2028; Option Year 3 from February 1, 2028 to January 31, 2029; Option Year 4 from February 1, 2029 to January 31, 2030.
