Kitchen Hood Cleaning

Background
The Cheyenne VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a contractor to provide kitchen hood and duct cleaning services. This contract aims to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen facilities, which is crucial for the health and safety of staff and patients. The contractor will be responsible for performing these services across multiple locations within the Cheyenne VAMC campus.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials, parts, supervision, transportation, and other necessary items or services for commercial hood and duct cleaning and inspection. Key tasks include:
1. Cleaning all deposits from grease-laden vapors and ensuring no residue remains on interior duct work and exterior surfaces.
2. Utilizing positive cleaning methods such as manual removal of cooking by-products, low-pressure application of approved detergents, high-pressure hot water cleaning, saturated steam cleaning, and replacing absorbent pads.
3. Cleaning specific components including air moving equipment, duct sections from canopies to rooftop exits, vertical type fume scrubbers, fan discharge stacks, impeller shafts, rooftop vents & exhaust equipment, fire dampers, fan blades or blower wheels.
4. Ensuring safety equipment is available for personnel working in kitchens and serving lines.
5. Using non-flammable and non-toxic solvent cleaners while avoiding application on fusible links or detection devices of the automatic extinguishing system.
6. Covering kitchen equipment with protective materials before starting work and erecting shelters during inclement weather.
7. Locking out electrical switches to prevent accidental activation during cleaning processes.

Period of Performance
The cleaning services will be performed on a recurring quarterly basis (every three months), with each building being serviced according to a coordinated schedule that may require late-night or early-morning work to avoid interfering with normal operations.
