Questions & Responses Q: Are there 12 hood exhaust locations? I want to make sure I am reading it accurately. Each location contains an exhaust duct and also connected to an inside hood within the canteen. R: There are 16 Kitchen/Canteen hoods. Please refer to the updated attachment B (equipment list) Q: Are you requiring CDET certification for dryer vents? R: No, CDET certification is not required at this time. Q: Are you requiring the IKECA certification for hood cleaners? R: Yes, IKECA certification is required. Evidence of current IKECA certification shall be submitted at time of offer. Attachment

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this solicitation for Kitchen and Dryer Exhaust Cleaning Services at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center located in Milwaukee, WI. The mission of the Department is to provide high-quality healthcare services to veterans. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the exhaust systems and dryer vents are properly maintained and cleaned to meet safety and health standards.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to clean the exhausts and/or dryer vents in specified buildings at the VA Medical Center. This includes kitchen exhaust hoods/vents, dental exhaust units, and clothes dryer vents. Specific tasks include:

1. Annual preventative maintenance and testing service on listed equipment per manufacturer recommendations.

2. Removing all accumulations of dirt, soot, dust, lint, grease, oily residue, food substances, debris from specified systems.

3. Wiping down kitchen hoods and cleaning hood duct exhaust systems including fans.

4. Inspecting existing access panels/doors for sufficiency for cleaning ducts; notifying COR if additional access is needed.

5. Ensuring cleanings prevent infiltration of dust into occupied spaces; all removed substances must be legally disposed of daily.

6. Installing relief valves and filters during cleaning in sensitive areas to prevent discharge of contaminants.

7. Inspecting for grease or lint accumulations from ducts or air handling units and reporting findings.

8. Repairing any damaged ductwork or clamps during dryer vent cleaning using VA supplied materials at no cost to the government.

Period of Performance
The contract will have a base period of one year starting from October 5, 2025, with four one-year options that can be exercised at the discretion of the government.
