Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing new a Power Take-Off (PTO) and repair of the needed TH60 drill rig as described in the required specifications and statement of work attached. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code - 336350 Motor Vehicle Transmission and Power Train Parts Manufacturing, with the associated size standard of 1,500 employees apply to this announcement.
All responsible sources may submit a brochure and/or technical specifications detailing the ability of meeting the required specifications and Statement of Work included with this announcement.
Interested parties shall explain how offerings meet, exceed, or differ from each Salient Characteristic. Merely providing technical specifications without direct comparison is insufficient for evaluation. An addendum may be included with submittal.

Background
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to identify qualified businesses capable of providing a new Power Take-Off (PTO) and repair services for the TH60 drill rig. This initiative is part of the agency's mission to ensure operational efficiency in their Research Drilling Program, which relies on the functionality of drilling equipment. The government is seeking information to assist in determining its acquisition strategy and is not committed to awarding a contract based on this announcement.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Purchase of a new Power Take-Off (PTO) to replace the current faulty unit used in an actively employed TH60 drill rig.

2. Removal of the existing PTO, which has been deemed beyond repair, and installation of the new PTO.

3. The new PTO must meet specific requirements including:
- Single-speed transfer case designed for full-time all-wheel drive applications.
- Compatibility with hydraulic pump output and proportional differential options.
- Adherence to lubrication requirements using specified engine oils and gear oils.
- Compliance with physical size, dimensions, and mounting interface requirements as detailed in the manufacturer's specifications.

4. Ensure that all installation procedures follow torque specifications and operational requirements outlined in the statement of work.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract will be determined upon award, but it is expected that the work will be completed within a timeframe suitable for maintaining operational readiness of the TH60 drill rig.
