Description

This project will provide backup power to the NMCI equipment room IT server racks and HVAC in Room S145 of B127 Taylor Hall, NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex via a diesel stand-by generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS). To minimize the scale of the HVAC infrastructure requiring backup power, a computer room air conditioning (CRAC) unit will be installed to cool the NMCI equipment room and powered via the backup power system.

Background
This project is initiated by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic to provide backup power to the NMCI equipment room IT server racks and HVAC in Room S145 of B127 Taylor Hall, located at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The goal is to ensure continuous operation of critical IT infrastructure during power outages by installing a diesel stand-by generator and an automatic transfer switch (ATS). Additionally, a computer room air conditioning (CRAC) unit will be installed to maintain optimal cooling conditions for the equipment.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the installation of a diesel generator rated at 75 kW with a sub-base fuel tank, housed in a NEMA 4X aluminum enclosure.

The generator must meet noise level regulations and include features such as an engine block heater and battery charger. An automatic transfer switch rated at 225A will be installed in the NMCI server room. The project also requires the installation of double doors into the NMCI server room, modifications to existing HVAC systems, and ensuring that all construction complies with applicable codes and standards.

The contractor must conduct site surveys, manage utility relocations, and ensure that all work maintains operational integrity for Building 127 during construction.

The construction projects will be performed at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
