Description

The Innovative Combustion and Propulsion Research (ICP Research) Program is intended to perform in-house research for the Aerospace Systems Directorate's Turbine Engine Division. The objectives are to advance the state-of-the-art of propulsion-related research and technologies for AF and DoD platforms. By understanding the fundamental aerothermal and mechanical processes in gas turbine engines, piston engines and other propulsion engines and systems, and applying that knowledge to enhance existing technologies, or devise new ones, promising concepts can be investigated and developed into components for propulsion systems, with an end goal of a demonstration in a legacy, pipeline or future military propulsion system. Program activities are expected to be primarily conducted within the experimental laboratories and test facilities of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
