Background
The project is issued by the Western Federal Lands Highway Division, which aims to improve access to the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge and federally-managed lands along the Kootenai River.

The contract is for Riverside Road Improvements, located in Boundary County, Idaho, just west of Bonners Ferry. The goal of the contract is to enhance road safety and accessibility for both vehicles and non-motorized users.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:

- Grading
- Drainage
- Base preparation
- Subexcavation
- Installation of bridge rail
- Construction of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls
- Paving.

Specific tasks include improving safety by enhancing sight distance on several curves within the project limits; widening the existing road from approximately 20 feet to 32 feet; providing widened shoulders for pedestrians and bicyclists; correcting deficient superelevation; upgrading bridge rail on Deep Creek Bridge; and upgrading guardrail.

Period of Performance
The tentative fixed completion date for the project is set for Fall/Winter 2025.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed in Boundary County, Idaho, specifically from the Bonners Ferry City Limit to the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
